With rolls of film on the way, I figured I should get out and practice up on some composition. The weather was a lovely 35 degrees Fahrenheit but the absence of wind really helped out for a golden hour shoot. I’ve had this Takumar 135mm lens for about a month and wanted to just get out and make some creative shots with it. A little bit of googling around lead me to a nice hilltop spot in Churchill that overlooks the city.
Although I one hundred percent planned to do something creative with it actually attached to the camera body plans kinda changed and I also used it separated. I have seen this technique used before but wasn’t sure if it would work out so it did take a little trial and error and some awkward manual focusing of both lenses to get right.
There are quite a few old rusty water towers in the city, especially down near Churchill and Shockoe, but they always make great subjects for that waning golden hour light.
Cross country trip departure date approximation is still Mid-February. A good van is gonna show up any day now!
