Oregon so far is everything as expected. It has dense vegetation and low human density down here on the south coast. The Cape Blanco campground provided good privacy from the neighboring campers with thick jungle which made it so cozy.
This campground was part of a park that had everything. As mentioned, there was the privacy at camp, then a short 2 minute walk brought you to an overlook (pictured directly below), and another 10 minutes down the road to the bottom of the cliff brought you onto the beach. I only saw one person on the beach in the three days I was out there.
Solitude is something I have been used to at the beach since my family has been spending so much more time in Nags Head during the off-season. This wasn't much different from an October trip down there but the ocean was freezing. From the beach you can see the lighthouse which happens to be part of the park as well. This lighthouse was a happening place so I didn't wait in the line to go on a tour.
More Oregon coast to come. Loving the laid back atmosphere and surprising lack of precipitation so far in this state. Side note: The night before getting to this park I stayed in a Walmart in Crescent City, CA and had half a tank of gas siphoned. It sucks to lose $50 literally overnight but Oregon has helped renew my spirit!
